Shaping Sydney For Next 20 Years

Sydneysiders are being asked to have their say about what sort of city they want Sydney to develop into over the next 20 years. Yes it's that time again. The NSW Government is preparing a new Metropolitan strategy and like all the others before, the aim of the document is to provide a framework for Sydney's growth.

Throughout the year the Department of Planning and Infrastructure will consult with communities, residents, businesses, workers, government and industry about what people want for Sydney.

The NSW Government has released a discussion paper, Sydney over the Next 20 Years. A draft strategy is to follow in mid to late 2012. With a final document to be released following community consultation.

People can quickly and easily tell the Government what they think, by joining the online forum. Each forum question is related to a chapter in the discussion paper and designed to start the conversation on a key planning issue for Sydney.

Developers should take note, as the Metropolitan strategy will have a major influence on development patterns throughout Sydney for next 20 years, or at least until future Governments decide a new strategy is needed.
