georgeThe City of Sydney is inviting public comments on a proposal to change the building-height control for 505-523 George Street, Sydney. The current height control for this site allows for a commercial and retail podium development and 2 towers up to 150 metres high.

The change, which the land owner requested, would increase the height control so a single residential tower could be built above a commercial and retail podium up to a height of 260 metres.

Draft planning agreement and proposed LEP and DCP amendments

The city is also seeking comments on a draft planning agreement under which this site's land owner would dedicate part of the podium area to the City of Sydney for community facilities. These facilities would include 2 childcare centres, a community meeting room and toilets available for public use.

The documents on public exhibition include the draft planning agreement and a planning proposal that would amend Sydney Local Environmental Plan 2012. The exhibition also includes a draft amendment to Sydney Development Control Plan 2012 that would provide detailed design guidance for development on the site.
