Over the next two years the Victorian Government will be preparing a new metropolitan planning strategy to manage Melbourne's growth and change. The strategy will contribute to the overall vision for the State including links with regional Victoria. The strategy will help guide Melbourne's growth and change over the next 30-40 years.

Late last year the Victorian Coalition Government's Ministerial Advisory Committee prepared a Discussion Paper called Melbourne, let's talk about the future. The paper was released by the Minister for Planning to prompt debate around the challenges and ideas for Melbourne's future.

This week the Minister for Planning has released a Conversation Toolkit to encourage more Victorians to get involved in planning for Melbourne by hosting their own group discussions.

The toolkit is designed to assist people to host discussions around the Metropolitan Planning Strategy Discussion Paper – Melbourne, let’s talk about the future.

The closing date for all submissions to the Discussion Paper including Toolkit consultation has now been extended to the 28 March 2013.

The toolkit is available from the Plan Melbourne website.
