PICTON’S historic George IV Inn has been sold after fetching $3.125 million at auction in Sydney this yesterday.

The inn has been closed since last June when floods extensively damaged the hotel.

According to the Illawarra Mercury, the insurance company Assetinsure’s decision to deny the pub’s claim in January forced owner Patrick Moloney to sell the beloved venue.

The pub is zoned B2 Local Centre. According to the Blockbrief Zone Guide, B2 provides for a range of retail, business, entertainment and community uses that serve the needs of people who live, work in and visit the local area. The property has a maximum building height of 9m.
