Planning Minister Rob Stokes announced land releases and rezonings near the Cudgegong Road Railway Station will be used to create suburbs with housing potential of 20,000 residents.

The new housing will be supported by the necessary infrastructure, such as schools, community facilities and open space.

Riverstone East will have a new primary school, a community centre, upgrades to major roads and easy access to a new train station on the Sydney Metro Northwest, Australia’s largest public transport project, Mr Stokes said.

The NSW Government will:

  • immediately rezone land for 3,500 new homes and 34 hectares of open space for a new community in Riverstone East Stages 1 and 2
  • plan ahead for a Stage 3 Riverstone East rezoning next year for a further 2,300 homes
  • immediately rezone land from light industrial to business park and residential uses in Box Hill Industrial to create a new Enterprise Corridor, 224 new homes and 3.3 hectares of open space
  • release land for new homes at West Schofields years ahead of schedule, potentially allowing at least 2,000 home sites.

The precinct is being rezoned in stages to ensure the proper infrastructure is provided.
