Discount On Developer Levy Extended

The NSW Government has extended the discount on the State Infrastructure Contribution (SIC), paid by developers to help fund state infrastructure in Sydney’s North West and South West Growth Centres. An arrangement where the government funds 50 per cent of the cost of necessary infrastructure, such as roads, was due to expire on 30 June. Planning Minister Brad Hazzard announced that the discount will continue until a new planning system is introduced in NSW.

Mr Hazzard said, “Our commitment today will see the Government continue to fund around $11,000 per dwelling for state infrastructure in a typical Western Sydney housing development.

The Green Paper on the new planning act is expected to be released later this month and is expected to propose a number of options for how state and local infrastructure contributions might operate in future.
