China To Construct the World’s Tallest Tower In 6 Months?

The proposed Sky City Tower will soar past the 800m mark, overtaking Dubai’s Burj Khalifa, currently the world’s tallest building. Not done yet Broad Sustainable Building (BSB), a construction company based in Hunan, has committed to a construction program of only 6 months! BSB break ground in a field in Hunan Province in November.

The project is tipped to cost BSB $628M, a fraction of the $1.5B development cost of Bruj Khalifa. According to CNN Go, BSB is still awaiting final planning approval but remains “confident the government will green-light the project.”

The BSB founder and chairman tells Wired that plans are in place to use the same cheap, energy-efficient, and expedient prefab construction methods as many of the firm’s other lightning-speed projects. Last year the firm erected a 30 story hotel i under 10 days. See  the clip.

“Traditional construction is chaotic,” he said. “We took construction and moved it into the factory.” Then: “It’s not a construction company. It’s a structural revolution.”
