Barangaroo Review – On Twitter?

02/06/2011 12:13 pm

The Minister for Planning and Infrastructure Brad Hazzard (@BradHazzard) announced the terms of the 'short, sharp' review of Barangaroo on 26 May, 2011.

The review is anticipated to run for 8 weeks and will be undertaken by VicUrban Board Member Meredith Sussex (http://www.vicurban.com/cs/Satellite?c=VPage&cid=1155711913557&pagename=VicUrban%2FLayout)  and former Design Director in the office of the NSW Government Architect Shelley Penn AM (http://www.architecture.com.au/i-cms?page=7413) .

The objective of the terms of reference is to review the project's compliance with the planning approval process, particularly:

The review is now open to public submissions until the 20 June, 2011. Submissions may be sent to barangaroo@dpc.nsw.gov.au or GPO Box 5341, Sydney, NSW 2001.

Given the daily conversations on social media sites, particularly Twitter and that both the BDA (@Barangaroo) and the most prominent action group (@Barangaroo_AG) are both on Twitter, a forward thinking review process may have included Twitter posts as public submissions. Given the large engagement in the project on Twitter, would it not be a great way of increasing public involvement in the process.
