4-star Hotel at Randwick Racecourse – On Exhibition

12/08/2012 11:02 pm

The 170 bedroom hotel, which forms part of Royal Randwick racecourse re-development, is now on public exhibition.

The public is being invited to comment on a proposal for a hotel at Randwick racecourse and an associated amendment to the Randwick Local Environmental Plan (LEP) to rezone the site for a hotel development, which are being publicly exhibited by the NSW Department of Planning and Infrastructure until the end of the month.

The applicant, The Australian Turf Club, has lodged a state significant development (SSD) application seeking approval to build an eight-story building consisting of:

  • A 170-bedroom hotel with conference facilities, indoor and outdoor bar, restaurant and swimming pool;
  • Basement parking for 50 cars;
  • Landscaping and public domain works; and
  • Restoration of the former Turnstile building and signage.

The hotel will be located along Alison Rd at the end of the main straight, with views over the racetrack towards the wining post. The hotel is expected to commence construction in late 2012, with an opening date to follow completion of the Royal Randwick Grandstand redevelopment in 2014.
